Heart
of Warwickshire 'Star Sights'
This
tour takes in Kenilworth Castle, Royal Leamington Spa, Chesterton Windmill
and Warwick Castle.
First
we visit Kenilworth Castle the ruined glory of Elizabethan England before
making our way to Royal Leamington Spa a town that is a blend of Regency
and Victorian heritage that was a favorite of Queen Victoria. A statue
of Queen Victoria stands outside the Town Hall and was once moved a couple
of inches on its plinth by nearby bombs dropped during air raids on Coventry
during World War 2. Here we will make time to visit the newly developed
Jephson Gardens and Royal Pump Rooms.
Leaving
Leamington we travel a short distance to Chesterton Windmill in the heart
of the Warwickshire countryside. It was built in 1632 by Sir Edward Peyto
and John Stone a pupil of Inigo Jones.
Finally
we travel onto Warwick Castle the jewel in the crown. With its magnificent
towers and ramparts, the Castle holds 1000 years of history. See the elegant
State Rooms, the chilling dungeon, Guy's Tower, The Kingmaker and so much
more.
