Heart
of the Cotswolds
We
start the day travelling through Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold and
Northleach for our first stop in Bibury. The vilage is situated on the
River Coln and the Church of St Mary's which is Saxon is well worth a
visit. Also in Bibury is Arlington Row, a group of ancient cottages dating
back to the 16th century.
From
Bibury we travel the short distance to Cirencester, in Roman times Cirencester
was the second largest town in England after London. The architectural
glory of Cirencester must be the Church of St John in the Market Place.
Surrounding the Market Place is a network of fascinating old streets,
among them Spitalgate with the remains of a 12th century almshouse.
On
our return journey we will travel through the very picturesque villages
of Winchcombe and Broadway.
This
tour takes in some of the best towns and villages in the Cotswolds as
well as some beautiful countryside.
